Have you heard about heaven? Well, we're not in it...or on it...or...whatever. Good news! We can still get to heaven...but the way there means turning away from sin and living like Jesus. Well, not exactly like Jesus. That was 2000ish years ago, and technology has advanced significantly. Still, behave like Jesus.
In an earlier post, I talked about being sanctified. So, I've been thinking (again),
What if everyone who is filled with the holy spirit and loves Jesus, started outwardly showing the love inside them? What kind of world would that be?
How might that kind of discipleship bring lost sheep into God's flock?
Last weekend, Julie and I spoke at our annual spring tea about how women of the Bible demonstrated leadership through service. One of the common threads of the stories we shared about women in the bible is how they served God by serving others. The Sermon on the Mount gives us some insights into the rewards of this kind of discipleship. Matthew 5:19 (NIV) says:
That first part of this verse puts down those who are not following God's commands, but the second part shows how exemplifying the commandments of God are what God desires most. By practicing God's commands, we teach others by example how to be good Christian.
Central to the mission of Unfinished Women is the cultivation of disciples through Christian thought and action. I'm not perfect; I love Jesus, but I am intentional everyday in my faith walk. I don't always get it right, but I can always turn my eyes to the great redeemer and savior for guidance in the pages of the book: The Bible.
Friends, this week, go a out and wash someone's feet with your hair (Mark 14:8-9). Okay, maybe not literally, but honor someone with your love by letting God's love shine through you. Show others what it looks like to be a disciple of the most high God.
Praying blessings over you, Michelle
