A Summer of Gratitude - I’m grateful for my husband!

Well, I didn’t get a blog post written for May 21, so I felt guilty about not doing that, but then I decided to give myself some grace. My last day at school was May 17, and I think I was just worn out from the school year. I also couldn’t think of anything to write about–my brain was just not engaging!

So, that brings me to today, and after talking to Michelle, I decided to do a series of blogs this summer focused on gratitude. She had a great idea of sharing a picture and then writing about how it inspires gratitude! I don’t really know if my brain is engaging any more than it was two weeks ago, but I’m going to do my best.

When I focus on things I’m grateful for, it helps me to focus less on the things in this world that cause me to worry or stress. The Bible talks a lot about being thankful, and here are a few verses that explain that we should be grateful in all circumstances: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16-18

For this first blog post focusing around “a summer of gratitude,” I want to say how grateful I am for my husband. God has truly blessed me with Geoff! He is the first person here on Earth that I want to share things with, good or bad. After a rotten day at work, I want to call him, and when I have an amazing day, I also want to call him. We started dating in college, and we’ve been married for 28 ½ years. He’s a great teacher, a wonderful father, and an amazing human! Just last weekend, we were leaving my son’s house in Sioux Falls, and before we could pull away, Geoff jumped out of the car to go help one of my son’s neighbors who was trying to put a couch in the back of a truck. He loves meeting new people, and he loves striking up conversations with people in random settings. He’s incredibly generous, and he’s also pretty funny!

Picking one picture was difficult, so I have a few to share with you this week:

Here’s a picture from our homecoming dance at Sioux Falls College in fall of 1994.

Here’s a picture of Geoff and our boys at the South Dakota state track meet in 2006 in Rapid City, SD.

Here are some pictures that were taken of us in 2021, by our friend Linda McEntee.

I’m looking forward to sharing with you this summer more things I’m grateful for!

Thanks for reading!

Love,

Julie
